At Chic-Hook, our story is deeply rooted in tradition, creativity, and family legacy. The founder, originally from Costa Rica, comes from a long line of proud Spanish immigrants whose roots trace back to Spain’s Golden Age. Every Friday evening, the ladies of her family gathered at the stunning Plaza Mayor, a historically significant and breathtaking location that has been the heart of Spanish culture for centuries.

It was here that the family upheld a tradition: every lady carried her handbag as a symbol of elegance and practicality. However, with the plaza being an open, bustling space, there was no safe place to rest these precious bags. Placing them on the ground was simply out of the question, as thieves were known to lurk, and designated spaces were untrusted. Each lady had to carry not only her chair but a small stool just for her handbag, which took up unnecessary space—especially since their handbags were larger and heavier in those days, filled with essentials for an afternoon out. Rebekah, a creative and innovative member of the family, with her love for crafting, came up with a clever solution. She designed the first table hook, made of wood, with a carefully curved shape that attached securely to any table and featured a notch to safely hold a purse. This ingenious invention, born from necessity and artistry, evolved into the Chic-Hook you see today: a beautiful and functional product that blends practicality with elegance, now available to you through our family business.
